Epcot Lightning Lane Multi Pass Strategies & Tips

Epcot is comprised of multiple sections – World Celebration, World Discovery, World Nature, and World Showcase – sometimes resulting in a long walk between attractions.

To conquer it all, you’ll need a smart plan. That’s where the Lightning Lane Multi Pass comes in, helping you skip the long queues and pack more into your day.

This guide will walk you through the essentials of using a Lightning Lane Multi Pass at Epcot. I’ll cover what it is, how to buy it, which rides to prioritize, and share my best strategies and tips for maximizing your time.

By the end of this post, you’ll be ready to navigate Epcot like a seasoned pro and unlock a truly magical experience.

What is Lightning Lane Multi Pass?

When you book a ride using Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you get access to that attraction’s Lightning Lane, which is the queue you’ll use to bypass the regular standby line. You might also hear people refer to this service as Genie+ or FastPass, which are the previous versions of this service.

The big change with Multi Pass is that you can now plan ahead! Instead of booking one ride at a time on the day of your visit, you can purchase the Multi Pass and select up to three attractions and arrival windows in advance.

It’s the perfect blend between the original free FastPass system and the previous Genie+ service.

How to buy Lightning Lane Multi Pass

Purchasing the Multi Pass is a simple process you can do days before your park visit through the My Disney Experience app.

  1. Check Your Eligibility: Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel (and other select hotels) can purchase passes up to 7 days in advance for their entire stay. All other guests can purchase passes up to 3 days in advance.
  2. Open the My Disney Experience App: Tap the “Purchase” button in the Lightning Lane Passes section on the home screen of the app.
  3. Select a Date: Select the date that you want a pass for.
  4. Choose a Park & Pass: Select Epcot and then Multi Pass.
  5. Select Your Rides & Time Slots: This is the fun part! You’ll be prompted to choose up to three attractions and your preferred arrival windows.
  6. Complete Your Purchase: Confirm the members of your party and complete the transaction. Your selections will now appear in the “My Day” section of the app.

How much does the Epcot Lightning Lane Multi Pass cost?

The price for the Lightning Lane Multi Pass varies by date and park. Prices are typically higher during peak seasons, holidays, and weekends.

According to Thrill Data, the cost for an Epcot Lightning Lane Multi Pass ranges from $15-32 per person, per day.

When you get to step 4 in the process outlined in the section above, you’ll see the exact price for the date you selected, so there will be no surprise once you get to check out.

Epcot Lightning Lane Multi Pass attractions

When you make your first three selections for Epcot, you’ll pick from two different groups of attractions. You can choose one attraction from Tier 1 and two attractions from Tier 2.

Tier 1 (choose one)

These are the most popular attractions at Epcot that are part of the Multi Pass service:

  1. Frozen Ever After
  2. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
  3. Test Track

Tier 2 (choose two)

You can select your other two initial rides from this list of Epcot classics.

  1. Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival
  2. Journey into Imagination with Figment
  3. Living with the Land
  4. Mission: SPACE
  5. The Seas with Nemo & Friends
  6. Soarin’ Around the World
  7. Spaceship Earth
  8. Turtle Talk with Crush

It’s important to note that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is not part of the Multi Pass system. It is available through a separate Lightning Lane Single Pass purchase or standby only.

Epcot Lightning Lane strategy & tips

A smart strategy is key to getting the most out of your Multi Pass at Epcot. Here’s my recommended approach to get you started.

Strategy and tips for groups

For your Tier 1 selection, I recommend taking a poll with everyone to see which of the Tier 1 attractions is most popular and going with that selection. They’re all worthy options in my opinion, so I can’t say that one over the other is best.

For Tier 2, I recommend choosing from Soarin’, Living with the Land, Spaceship Earth, and Turtle Talk with Crush.

None of the attractions in Tier 2 have terrible wait times, except when it comes to peak travel periods, such as Christmas.

In addition, during the holiday season, Living with the Land has holiday lights that are only on during the evening hours, so select a nighttime slot if you’ll be visiting between Black Friday and Christmas.

Strategies and tips for solo guests

Test Track and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure both have single rider lines, so pick Frozen Ever After for your Tier 1 selection.

For Tier 2, go with Soarin’ and any other option from the list. As mentioned earlier, the Tier 2 attractions at Epcot typically have short wait times, save for Soarin’.

That said, if it’s holiday season, select an evening slot for Living with the Land, as it has a special holiday overlay, which causes the average wait time to go up.

In addition, sometimes a single rider line will be opened for Soarin’ during the holiday season. It’s totally by chance and not guaranteed, though, so it’s a bit of a gamble. Personally, I still recommend selecting Soarin’ as a Tier 2 attraction if you’re visiting solo, just in case. Worst case scenario, you can ride it more than once without much of a wait!

Park hopping benefits

If you have an annual pass or park hopper ticket, your subsequent selections can be from other parks. All you have to do is redeem at least 1 lightning lane before you can book a fourth selection.

Epcot is easy to get to Magic Kingdom via monorail or Hollywood Studios via Skyliner, so I recommend choosing from one of these parks if you’re planning to switch parks.

Edit your selections

The arrival windows you see in the app are constantly changing. If you don’t see a time that works for you, don’t give up! Pull down on the screen to refresh the page. New times often appear as other guests change their plans.

This “refresh and repeat” trick can help you snag a perfect time slot for a popular ride. It also means that if an attraction you wanted might show up as available as the day goes on, so it’s worth checking here and there to see if a slot opens up.

Download your ride photos

The Lightning Lane MultiPass comes with free downloads of any ride photos for attractions that include them.

If you have PhotoPass, this probably isn’t a big perk for you. But if you don’t, make a note to download them so you have them for social media, photo books, and the like.

Is Lightning Lane Multi Pass worth it for Epcot?

So, is the Lightning Lane Multi Pass worth the extra cost at Epcot? For most visitors, the answer is a resounding yes.

The time you save by skipping just two or three long lines can be the difference between a frantic, stressful day and a relaxed, enjoyable one.

The Multi Pass is especially valuable if:

  • You’re visiting on a busy day. On weekends, holidays, or during one of Epcot’s popular festivals, wait times can soar and the Multi Pass becomes essential.
  • Rides are your top priority. If you want to experience Test Track, Remy’s, and Soarin’ without spending hours in line, this service is a must-have.
  • You’re park hopping. If you plan to leave Epcot for another park, the Multi Pass ensures you can hit the park’s biggest attractions efficiently before you head to your next park – and hit up some of the biggest rides elsewhere, too.

Overall, the ability to plan three rides in advance removes much of the stress and screen time that came with the old Genie+ system, allowing you to be more present and enjoy your day.
