Magic Kingdom Lightning Lane Multi Pass strategies & tips

With a little bit of planning and strategy, you can get a lot out of purchasing a Lightning Lane Multi Pass for Magic Kingdom.

Tips for groups

As with other parks that use a tiered selection system, I recommend checking in with your group to determine which ride is best.

If you’re traveling with young kids, Peter Pan’s Flight or Jungle Cruise are best. Thrill seekers will love Space Mountain or Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

TIP: You WILL get wet on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, so pick a time slot that is right before you plan to head back to your hotel, whether it be for an afternoon nap or for the evening.

Tips for solo guests

If you’re traveling solo, I recommend going with Space Mountain or Tiana’s Bayou Adventure for your Tier 1 pick. More often than not, Space Mountain will have the higher wait time.

That is, unless you’re looking for nostaglia, in which case Peter Pan’s Flight or Jungle Cruise would be the best pick.

Personally, I don’t get the hype for Peter Pan’s Flight – and I’m a big Tinkerbell fan. But it does tend to have very long wait times.

Tier 2 picks at Magic Kingdom

When it comes to your tier 2 selections, my top 2 recommendations are Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean.

That is, unless you’re with little kids. If that is the case, go with Dumbo the Flying Elephant and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Slightly older kids might enjoy The Barnstormer, as well.

The rest of the rides in tier 2 have reasonable wait times, so there isn’t an advantage of prioritizing one over the other, in my opinion.

You can edit your selections

If you don’t get the time slot or attraction you wanted, continuously check the app to see if additional time slots appear or if attractions suddenly have availability.

As peoples’ plans change, the times or attractions you prefer just might become available!

Download your Photo Pass photos

Lightning Lane Multi Pass comes with free downloads of ride photos from eligible attractions. Just head to the My Disney Experience app, where you can download the photos.

In my experience, the photos show up within minutes. That said, Disney also gives you 45 days from when the photo was taken to download them, so don’t feel like you have to download them while you’re enjoying your vacation.

Plan your day land-by-land

Magic Kingdom has a ton of attractions available under Multi Pass, so to minimize criss-crossing the park too much, pick a section and work your way around.

Personally I prefer to start with Adventureland and work my way around, ending in Tomorrowland. I LOVE Tomorrowland best in the evening, when all of the colorful neon lights are turned on.

Here’s the list of attractions, broken down by land:

Adventureland

  1. Jungle Cruise (Tier 1)
  2. The Magic Carpets of Aladdin (Tier 2)
  3. Pirates of the Caribbean (Tier 2)

Frontierland & Liberty Square

  1. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (Tier 1)
  2. Haunted Mansion (Tier 2)

Fantasyland & Storybook Circus

  1. Peter Pan’s Flight (Tier 1)
  2. The Barnstormer (Tier 2)
  3. Dumbo the Flying Elephant (Tier 2)
  4. It’s a Small World (Tier 2)
  5. Mad Tea Party (Tier 2)
  6. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (Tier 2)
  7. Mickey’s PhilharMagic (Tier 2)
  8. Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid (Tier 2)

Tomorrowland

  1. Space Mountain (Tier 1)
  2. Monster’s Inc Laugh Floor (Tier 2)
  3. Tomorrowland Speedway (Tier 2)

Is the Lightning Lane Multi Pass for Magic Kingdom worth it?

The Lightning Lane Multi Pass is a game-changer when it comes to tackling Magic Kingdom. It’s an attraction-packed park and this pass makes it possible to hit most, if not all, without breaking the bank.

That said, if you’re planning to park hop, rope dropping or visiting on a low crowd day, can like get you onto your rides without much wait in the standby line – and without additional cost.

Now grab your passes, don your Minnie ears and Goofy hats, and go conquer Magic Kingdom like the Disney pro you are.
