Best Jedi Master Yoda Quotes from the Star Wars Galaxy

The wise words of Jedi Master Yoda have captivated Star Wars fans for decades.

Whether it’s giving advice on confronting fear, understanding failure and loss, or simply conveying his unique sense of wit and humor, the lessons that he offers through his timeless quotes continue to resonate with fans around the world.

So if you’re looking for a dose of wisdom courtesy of everyone’s favorite little green dude, look no further!

I’ve gathered some of my favorite Yoda quotes from throughout the Star Wars movies that prove why Yoda is an iconic character who stands out among all others.

SPOILER ALERT: This post may contain spoilers to movie or show plots.

Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999)

In The Phantom Menace, Yoda uses his wise words and concentrated power to navigate through a stressful situation, providing everyone with a way forward.

He also serves as a reminder of the importance of trust in relationships.

Yoda’s knowledge and wisdom helped the group understand how their actions can shape reality, something so cleverly demonstrated throughout his iconic one-liners!

Here are his best quotes from The Phantom Menace:

May the Force be with you.

Always two there are. No more, no less. A master and an apprentice.

Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering. I sense much fear in you.

Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002)

Graphic with a green tie dyed background. Text overlay reads: The dark side clouds everything. Impossible to see the future is.

Yoda shows up as a key figure throughout Attack of the Clones.

Not only does he wield his trusty green lightsaber in some epic duels, but he also provides wise counsel to the other characters. You know, the usual Yoda stuff!

Yoda’s wise advice helps guide Anakin Skywalker down the right path and his quick wit often provided levity during intense moments in this film.

Here are some of Yoda’s best quotes from Attack of the Clones:

Truly wonderful, the mind of a child is.

You must unlearn what you have learned.

The dark side clouds everything. Impossible to see the future is.

Clear your mind must be, if you are to discover the real villains behind this plot.

Only the dark Lord of the Sith knows of our weakness. If informed the Senate is, multiple our adversaries will.

Victory? Victory you say? Master Obi Wan, not victory. The shroud of the dark side has fallen. Begun the Clone War has.

Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Photo with a white textured background. Overlaying text reads: When you look at the dark side, careful you must be. For the dark side looks back.

In Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Yoda plays an important role in helping to save the fate of the galaxy when he refuses to fall into Emperor Palpatine’s malevolent trap.

Yoda goes into exile, where he uses his knowledge to recognize threats to freedom in the galaxy, then acts to squelch them.

With Yoda’s wily ways and formidable fighting skills, the Jedi are able to withstand a tremendous onslaught from Palpatine’s forces.

Here are some of Yoda’s best lines from Revenge of the Sith:

Always pass on what you have learned.

Good relations with the Wookiees, I have.

The fear of loss is a path to the dark side.

Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.

Many of the truths we cling to depend on our point of view.

To a dark place this line of thought will take us. Great care we must take.

In a dark place we find ourselves, and a little more knowledge lights the way.

When you look at the dark side, careful you must be. For the dark side looks back.

Patience you must have, my young Padawan. Have patience and all will be revealed.

To answer power with power, the Jedi way this is not. In this war, a danger there is of losing who we are.

You think Yoda stops teaching just because his student does not want to hear? A teacher Yoda is. Yoda teaches like drunkards drink and killers kill.

Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Attachment leads to jealousy. The shadow of greed, that is.

Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

Graphic with a green linen bookcover-like background. Text overlay reads: Difficult to see. Always in motion the future is.

Although The Empire Strikes Back is the fifth episode in the Star Wars saga, it is technically when we are first introduced to Yoda.

In this film, Yoda takes Luke on as his apprentice and teaches him in the ways of the Force.

The Empire Strikes Back definitely cements Yoda as key figure in the Star Wars franchise overall.

Here the best Yoda quotes from this film:

Luke Skywalker: I can’t believe it.
Yoda: That is why you fail.

You will find only what you bring in.

Control, control. You must learn control.

No, try not. Do or do not. There is no try.

Difficult to see. Always in motion the future is.

Hmm, great warrior. Wars not make one great.

Adventure. Excitement. A Jedi craves not these things.

Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you?

Strong is Vader. Mind what you have learned. Save you it can.

For my ally is the Force and what a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us.

You will know good from bad when you are at peace and passive. A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack.

Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you. Here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere. Even between the land and the ship.

A Jedi’s strength flows from the Force. But beware of the dark side. Anger, fear, aggression – the dark side of the Force are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight. Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny. Consume you it will, as it did Obi-Wan’s apprentice.

Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983)

Graphic with a natural paper-like background. Text reads: Luke, when gone am I, the last of the Jedi you will be.

Yoda’s role in Return of the Jedi was definitely a sad, but fulfilling one.

Yet again, Yoda’s wisdom is invaluable to Luke during his journey in finding peace amongst the galaxy.

He is able to help Luke understand, and ultimately accept, what he needs to do in order to defeat the dark side once and for all.

Yoda definitely left a lasting impression in this film, and within the Star Wars fandom.

Here are his best quotes from Return of the Jedi:

Luke, when gone am I, the last of the Jedi you will be. The Force runs strong in your family. Pass on what you have learned. Luke, there is another Skywalker…

Yoda: Soon I will rest, yes. Forever sleep. Earned it I have.
Luke Skywalker: Master Yoda, you can’t die.
Yoda: Strong I am with the Force, but not that strong. Twilight is upon me. Soon night must fall. That is the way of things. The way of the Force.

Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi (2017)

Graphic with a green to yellow ombre background. Text overlay reads: The greatest teacher, failure is.

Just when you though we’d never see Master Yoda again, he pops up as a ghostly figure in The Last Jedi to help guide Luke Skywalker.

And while his appearance was brief, he still delivered a few classic lines:

The greatest teacher, failure is.

We are what they grow beyond. That is the true burden of all masters.
